Christmas Cheer Poem

Tracy Lilley - Friday, December 18, 2015

Molly Emmett and Elizabeth Tingle from Y5 have written this lovely festive poem to help spread the Christmas Cheer!

Christmas Cheer

Upon the tree is a Christmas star

That can be seen from miles afar.

Christmas is the time of year

Where families laugh, love and cheer.

You may be visited by a fat old fella

So grab your candles from the cellar.

Look for him coming down your chimney.

A reindeer called Rudolph is leading his journey.

Snowballs splatting at your window.

Snow is covering your feet down below.

Hooray it’s snowing, lots of fun.

Wherever you look there’s no sign of sun.

Remember the time when Christ was born.

For when he was older he was crowned with thorns.

Then the rock was unrolled

And the Christmas story was retold.

Recycled Plastic Bottle Greenhouse

Tracy Lilley - Wednesday, December 09, 2015

We have been approached by Ecclesfield Community Gardens to help them build a Recycled Plastic Bottle Greenhouse!

They need our help in collecting 2litre plastic bottles, they need around 1,500 for each greenhouse!

All bottles need to be washed with their labels and lids removed. They need to be brought into school, via class or the main office, then they will be transported to the community garden location.

Our aim is that pupils from the school will assist in the building of the greenhouse.

There will be a bin outside the front entrance of the school where you can deposit your plastic bottles.

You can begin bringing your bottles in from the 4th of December.

Christmas Tree Decoration Competition

Tracy Lilley - Thursday, December 03, 2015
Thank you very much to all those children who entered the Christmas Tree Decoration Competition! The decorations are fantastic and will look great on our Christmas tree in school. Our school governor Jim Walsh found it tricky to choose which decoration would win for each class, so well done to everyone.

Careers Week 12th October to 16th October

Hannah Smith - Friday, October 02, 2015

Careers Week: 12th October—16th October

In order to make the week possible, we really need your help! You don’t need to be an  astronaut, a doctor or a secret agent – we need to learn about a wide range of careers. If you think that you (or another family member) would be able to help us; by holding a stall at our careers fair, by speaking to a group or by holding a workshop to demonstrate an aspect of your work (uniform, equipment, paperwork etc) please get in touch with Miss Smith or leave your details with the office. The week will not be successful without you!

Hannah Smith - Friday, October 02, 2015

Let’s Investigate Science Day: Tuesday 6th October

On Tuesday 6th October, children will be taking part in a fun day full of science activities.  Throughout the day  classes will work as teams to take part in different  problem solving activities.  They will also carry out exciting scientific investigations.  For homework this week, we have asked children to have a go at carrying out an experiment at home.  We would love to see photos of this so please send them in! There will be a prize for the best  ‘mad scientist’ photo!  Please note; children are NOT  dressing up for this day so please send them in uniform as usual.

Red, White and Blue Day

Hannah Smith - Friday, October 02, 2015

Red, White and Blue Day @ Ecclesfield

Red, White and Blue Day is a chance for every school in the  country to show their support for the huge number of  service families in the UK. Service children are brave and adaptable, but they are also often under strain and can be vulnerable.

On 9th October we are asking pupils and staff at Ecclesfield to dress in red, white and blue. This is to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of The  Battle of Britain. During the day the pupils will be  taking part in different learning experiences to help commemorate the day. We are not asking for a donation on this day. If you would like further information on the work of the charity please take a look at their  website:
