Year 3's Diary

A warm welcome to Year 3. Our team this year includes Miss Latham, Mr Nettleship and Mrs Neville. We are all looking forward to a fantastic year.

Autumn 2

Hannah Smith - Friday, November 10, 2017

During the second Autumn term, Year 3 are learning all about the author David Walliams. Although we will look at many of his books, we will focus on 'Gangsta Granny' specifically and relate lots of our learning around this book.

Here is a brief synopsis .....

A story of prejudice and acceptance, funny lists and silly words, this new book has all the hallmarks of David’s previous bestsellers.

Our hero Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house. She’s the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble, and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn’t know about his grandma.

1) She was once an international jewel thief.

2) All her life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels, and now she needs Ben’s help…

To help at home it would be great if the children could research David Walliams as an author, look at other books he has written and compare them with stories we have read already. We will be also looking at the style of illustrations in the book and try and replicate the style.

In Maths we are really focussing on multiplication and division, it is therefore VITAL that the childre are learning their times tables (2, 5, 10, 3, 4, 6 times tables). There are lots of games online to help with this as well as Mathletics and RM Easi maths, which the children have passwords to.

Don't forget PE are on the following days:

Y3NT: Wednesday and Friday

Y3W: Thursday and Friday

Please ensure PE kits are in school.
