Welcome to this half term!
We are looking forward to all the different learning we will be doing up until Easter.
Our class novel will continue to be The Nowhere Emporium by Ross MacKenzie. We will be reading this as part of our story time sessions each day and discussing the development of the different characters as the plot continues.
In Maths we will be using our knowledge of fractions to help us learn about decimals and percentages. We will be focussing on the place value of decimals which will allow us to multiply and divide them quickly as well as using decimals in the four operations to solve problems.
We will continue our learning about the significance and chronology of the Tudors which will focus on the reign of Queen Elizabeth I as one of Henry VIII’s successors. We will also be looking more in depth about Elizabethan theatres which will link to our English and D.T learning where we will be producing information texts and building our very own structures that remain stable. We will finish the half term learning about William Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth. We will be creating our own playscripts and will have the opportunity to perform these.
During this half term, Science Week will be celebrated within school where we will be practically investigating a range of questions which will include all five of our enquiry types. We will also be finishing our materials units of work, linking our learning to conductors and insulators as well as starting our learning about forces.
We will continue to learn how to play the ukulele throughout this half term focusing on strumming patterns and chord changes. During PE lessons, we will be playing tag rugby and doing athletics. Please make sure your child has suitable footwear in order to complete these lessons, especially as the weather improves and we have the option to use our outside areas. PE days for both classes remain as Thursday and Friday.
