Wow! What an excellent Autumn term we are having so far. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' this past half term and this linked perfectly to our Geography unit of work about…
Hello from the Year 5 Team. The class teachers are Mrs Oldham, Mrs Travers and Mr Walker. In Year 5, we enjoy getting as creative as possible within lessons and promote curiosity and a love of learning. You will often find us getting ‘stuck in’ to our engaging lessons, getting excited over the stories we are reading or singing along to our favourite songs! This year, the children will learn about a range of exciting topics including Mountains and Volcanoes, Vikings and Anglo Saxons, The Tudors, World Trade and The Victorians!
As much as we love reading in the classroom, we encourage you to read as much as possible at home! In Year 5, you are now given the choice of which reading book you will take home but please do ensure that you bring them back into school when you have completed them. Reading books will be changed on a FRIDAY when the children will have the opportunity to go to the school library. We also ask that the children continue to practise basic number fluency facts as much as possible including their times tables and related division facts as these will be important for when we learn about fractions!
Home-learning will be given out to children each Friday and should be returned on the following Wednesday. The children have their own home-learning book where they should complete any written tasks.
If you have any questions or would like any clarification, please speak to a member of the Year 5 team.
